
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has submitted feasibility studies for implementing water metro systems in 18 Indian cities, including Kollam, Alappuzha, Srinagar, Guwahati, Patna, and others, to the Inland Waterways Authority of India. These studies, requested by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, assess sustainable water transport options across diverse waterways. KMRL also prepared a Detailed Project Report for a proposed 250 km water metro network in Mumbai, aiming to expand urban water mobility nationwide.
