Delhi Plans 7,000 EV Charging Points and 100 Swapping Stations in 2026

The Delhi government plans to add 7,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging points and 100 battery swapping stations in 2026 to enhance EV infrastructure and reduce pollution. Currently, Delhi has 8,849 charging points against a requirement of 36,150. Quarterly targets aim to increase total charging stations to over 16,000 by year-end. The Delhi Metro and Regional Rapid Transit System will also expand their charging facilities. Additionally, the government intends to add 1,268 battery swapping stations to meet the target of 1,500. A study ranked Delhi third in EV adoption for 2024-25, with over 83,000 EV registrations across various vehicle types.
