India's consumption of petrol, diesel, and LPG saw above-average increases in December. Diesel demand rose 5% year-on-year, significantly exceeding its April-December average. Petrol sales grew 6.7%, also above its nine-month average. LPG consumption climbed 12.7%, substantially higher than its average. Aviation turbine fuel sales, however, declined slightly. The rise in diesel and petrol consumption is linked to economic activity, increased travel, and vehicle sales, while LPG use is boosted by industrial substitution.
