Purabi Dairy Launches Renovated 20,000 Litre Milk Processing Plant in Barak Valley

Purabi Dairy, operated by West Assam Milk Producers' Co-operative Union Ltd (WAMUL), has launched a renovated milk processing plant in Gungoor, Silchar, marking the entry of organised cooperative dairying into Assam's Barak Valley. The plant, upgraded to process 20,000 litres daily, was handed over by the Assam government to North East Dairy and Foods Ltd (NEDFL) for renovation under the Assam Dairy Development Plan. The facility offers hygienically packed milk and other dairy products, aiming to benefit local farmers and consumers while supporting the state's goal of expanding milk processing capacity.
