
Raja Singh Oberoi, founder of Texla and pioneer of affordable TV and radio sets in India, passed away at 90 in Ludhiana on February 28. Born in 1936 near Rawalpindi, he migrated to India during Partition and launched Jupiter Radios in 1961 before establishing Texla, which dominated Punjab's TV market with 95% share. Despite no formal education, his dedication made electronics accessible to middle-class families. His family continues the business, and he also contributed to philanthropy through Gurbani audio-visual initiatives.
