India's textile and apparel sectors are advocating for zero-duty access in the upcoming India-EU Free Trade Agreement, expected to conclude on January 27. Export councils highlight that tariff barriers currently place Indian products at a disadvantage in the EU market, which is a major trading partner. They emphasize that duty-free access would boost competitiveness, support rural artisans and MSMEs, promote sustainable exports, and enhance India's presence in the EU's $136 billion goods market, particularly benefiting cotton textiles and apparel exports valued at over $1.3 billion and $4.5 billion respectively.
