The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has launched a Green Hydrogen Action Plan aiming to establish two centres of excellence through reputed academic institutions. These centres will focus on cost-effective technologies for green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and use. The state will provide up to ₹50 crore in financial support per centre and offer startups up to ₹25 lakh annually for five years. The initiative supports India's net-zero emissions target by 2070 and includes the recently inaugurated green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur, expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 500 tonnes.
