Steelbird Managing Director Rajeev Kapur stated this move could reduce road accident deaths by 25 percent by ensuring genuine, BIS-certified helmets are provided, cutting off the market for cheap, ineffective fakes. While this will slightly increase vehicle costs, Kapur emphasized the life-saving benefits outweigh the marginal price impact, particularly for pillion riders.
