
Bilateral trade between India and the Maldives has surged over threefold in eight years, with India's exports doubling and imports from the Maldives increasing twentyfold. This economic interdependence is growing, bolstered by Indian tourism and recent bilateral agreements signed during Prime Minister Modi's visit. Agreements cover debt relief, infrastructure, UPI integration, fisheries, housing, security, and climate resilience, strengthening ties beyond essential exports like petroleum and food from India, and imports of fish products from the Maldives.
