A Suezmax tanker named Pola made a rare transit through the Strait of Hormuz on March 2-3, heading to the port of Jebel Dhanna in the UAE to load Abu Dhabi Murban crude destined for Thailand, according to two anonymous trade sources and vessel-tracking data. The tanker switched off its AIS tracker near the strait amid heightened tensions from the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran, which has disrupted regional energy exports and reduced tanker transits through the strait from an average of 24 to four per day.
