Bharti Airtel's data centre arm, Nxtra Data Ltd, plans to raise $1 billion to expand its capacity to gigawatt scale. The funding round includes a rights issue and preferential allotment, with new investor Alpha Wave Global, backed by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, contributing $400 million. Existing shareholders Airtel and Carlyle are expected to invest $300 million each. This expansion aligns with Airtel's collaboration with Google and Adani on a $15 billion AI hub and data centre in Visakhapatnam.
