India's Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) is advancing domestic production of critical electronic parts, aiming for higher local value addition and supply chain resilience. The third tranche of ECMS projects, with 22 new proposals approved, brings total investment to over Rs 41,863 crore, projecting Rs 2.58 lakh crore in production and creating nearly 34,000 jobs. This scheme focuses on manufacturing components, moving beyond the final assembly model previously emphasized by schemes like PLI, which had limited local value addition.
