The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has disbursed Rs 45 lakh to red sanders farmers in Andhra Pradesh, part of a larger Rs 104 crore allocated to the state for conservation and benefit-sharing. This initiative, under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, rewards farmers for sustainable use of the endemic tree species, offering dual income from wood sales and ABS mechanism benefits. The NBA aims to transform red sanders into a livelihood asset, supporting conservation and socioeconomic development.
