Western Railway to Add 12 AC Local Train Services in Mumbai from January 2026

Western Railway will introduce 12 additional air-conditioned local train services on Mumbai's suburban network from January 26, 2026, increasing the total AC locals from 109 to 121. These new services will replace existing non-AC 12-car trains without changing the overall count of 1,406 local services. The expansion aims to meet rising commuter demand and improve comfort, with trains operating daily across key routes including Virar, Goregaon, Borivali, and Bhayandar.
