SriLankan Airlines to Launch Colombo-Ahmedabad Flights and Expand India Operations

SriLankan Airlines plans to launch direct flights between Colombo and Ahmedabad from April, marking its 10th destination in India. Subject to regulatory approvals, the airline aims to operate four weekly flights on this route, increasing its weekly India services to 93. India is the airline's largest market, accounting for about 30% of passenger traffic and 23% of visitor arrivals to Sri Lanka. The airline also intends to enhance its partnership with Air India and expects Indian passenger traffic to rise by up to 12% in 2026, driven by events like the T20 World Cup and growing cultural ties.
