SriLankan Airlines plans to launch direct flights between Colombo and Ahmedabad from April, marking its first new Indian destination in five years. This addition will make Ahmedabad the airline's 10th destination in India, enhancing connectivity and supporting religious tourism. The airline operates 90 weekly flights between India and Colombo, with India accounting for nearly 30% of its passenger traffic and 23% of Sri Lanka's tourist arrivals. SriLankan Airlines also aims to increase frequencies on existing routes by returning grounded aircraft to service.
