
Sri Lanka welcomed 2.3 million tourists in 2025, with Indian travellers leading as the top source market at 531,511 arrivals, more than double that of the next highest country, the UK, which had 21,277 visitors. Indian arrivals showed a year-on-year increase of over 114,000 and averaged over 23% monthly, peaking in December. The tourism authority highlighted Sri Lanka's appeal as a winter sun destination, with Europe and Asia Pacific accounting for 92.7% of arrivals. Early 2026 data shows continued strong Indian visitor numbers.
