HDFC Bank Raises Locker Rents Up to 184% and Mandates Aadhaar Biometric Access

HDFC Bank will increase safe deposit locker rents by up to 184% starting April 1, 2026, introducing a new 'Metro Plus' branch category with higher rates. Locker charges will depend on locker size and branch location, with GST of 18% applied additionally. The bank has also tightened access rules, mandating Aadhaar-linked biometric authentication for all locker holders to enhance security following theft incidents.
