The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will discontinue the mandatory Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process for new car, jeep, and van FASTag issuances from February 1, 2026. This change aims to enhance public convenience and reduce post-activation harassment. For existing FASTags, KYV will only be required if specific complaints arise, such as misuse or incorrect issuance. NHAI has also strengthened pre-activation validation norms, ensuring vehicle details are verified against the VAHAN database before FASTag activation.
