
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the 2026-27 state budget, highlighting initiatives to boost the IT and AI sectors. The government will establish an independent Department of Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, supported by a dedicated commissionerate. MoUs and letters of intent have been signed with global and national institutions including OpenAI, Sarvam AI, IIT Bombay, and BharatGen. Additionally, a geo-technology application centre will be set up to support national projects and economic growth, alongside plans to digitize citizen and business services for a paperless government.
