The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has notified operational guidelines for the Shipbuilding Financial Assistance Scheme (SBFAS) and the Shipbuilding Development Scheme (SbDS). These initiatives aim to boost India's domestic shipbuilding capacity and global competitiveness. The SBFAS, with a Rs 24,736 crore corpus, offers financial assistance from 15-25% per vessel, with stage-wise disbursement and incentives for series orders. A National Shipbuilding Mission will ensure coordinated planning and execution.
