Greece's shipping minister Vassilis Kikilias has expressed concern over the escalating conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, which has disrupted global shipping and left dozens of vessels stranded. The strait, vital for about 20% of global oil and gas supplies, has been closed for four days amid threats from Iran to fire on ships attempting passage. Greece, controlling a large merchant fleet with over 325 ships in the area, has advised vessels to avoid the region and prioritized seafarers' safety while planning repatriation efforts for stranded nationals despite closed airspace.
