
NTPC Ltd, India's largest power utility, is set to partner with US-based Clean Core Thorium Energy (CCTE) to develop thorium as a nuclear fuel alternative. NTPC's board has reportedly approved a minority equity investment in CCTE, subject to government clearances. This collaboration aims to advance India's nuclear energy capacity, explore thorium-based fuels for existing reactors, and enhance energy security, aligning with the recently passed SHANTI Act which allows private sector participation in nuclear operations.
