Western Railway Installs 239 Digital Axle Counters to Enhance Mumbai Monsoon Train Operations
Western Railway has installed 239 Digital Axle Counters (DACs) across Mumbai's suburban network to prevent signalling failures caused by waterlogging during the monsoon. Alongside, 1,860 signalling installations have been covered with waterproof shields to protect equipment. The DACs count train wheels to detect track occupancy accurately, improving reliability and reducing delays. Additional measures include inspections of earthing, power supply, cable insulation, and sealing of point machines, with emergency equipment stocks positioned for quick repairs.
