Turmeric exports from Erode district have increased by 5% this year, reaching 1.27 lakh metric tonnes between April and November, up from 1.21 lakh metric tonnes last year. This growth is attributed to sustained global demand, particularly for its medicinal properties and high curcumin content. Erode, known for its Geographical Indication-tagged turmeric, is the second-largest turmeric market in India, exporting to countries like Germany, Iran, and Malaysia.
