Union Minister Jitendra Singh laid the foundation stone for a Rs 600 crore pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir. The plant, established by Orchid Pharma with support from BIRAC under the Department of Biotechnology, will produce Amino Cephalosporanic Acid (ACA), a key antibiotic intermediate. This initiative aims to reduce India's reliance on imports from China, enhance supply security, and generate around 400 direct and indirect jobs, positioning Kathua as a growing pharmaceutical hub.
