The Indian government has permitted the export of up to 50,000 tonnes of organic sugar annually. This decision, announced via a Directorate General of Foreign Trade notification, is subject to modalities set by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). Organic sugar is produced from sugarcane grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, adhering to specific organic farming and processing standards.
