
Indian Railways is advancing its Vande Bharat train program with plans to launch the Vande Bharat 4.0 by 2027, targeting speeds up to 350 kmph on dedicated corridors. The 4.0 version will feature enhanced safety with Kavach 5.0 and improved passenger amenities. Concurrently, the Vande Bharat Sleeper variant, designed for long-distance overnight travel, is entering service with key propulsion equipment supplied by BHEL. Indian Railways aims to expand the fleet to 800 trainsets by 2030 and 4,500 by 2047, reflecting a significant modernization effort.
