Maharashtra Contractors Seek Financial Relief Amid Pending Government Dues
Small contractors in Maharashtra, representing nearly three lakh developers, have written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra seeking loan waivers, GST exemptions, and low-interest loans due to prolonged non-payment of government dues. The Maharashtra State Contractor Association highlighted stalled projects and financial distress caused by delayed payments. Opposition party NCP(SP) has demanded the state government disclose the exact pending dues and criticized the administration for withholding payments amid rising public debt.
