Former Russian banking tycoon Oleg Tinkov claims he lost approximately $9 billion in a single day after posting on Instagram to oppose Moscow's attack on Ukraine. Tinkov stated that Kremlin-linked officials contacted his bank shortly after his April 2022 post, leading him to sell his stake in Tinkoff Bank at a significant discount and leave Russia. He also renounced his Russian citizenship. Tinkov, who previously founded other businesses before establishing Tinkoff Bank, expressed his opposition to the war, calling it "insane" and noting the loss of innocent lives.
