Gujarat has become India's top okra producer, cultivating 11.68 lakh tonnes across 93,955 hectares in 2023-24. The Saurashtra-Kutch region significantly contributes to this output, with horticulture increasingly driving agricultural growth in the state due to higher returns and government support. Farmers are shifting towards horticultural crops, which now occupy nearly 20% of Gujarat's agricultural land.
