Indian Railways is undertaking a capacity augmentation project at Mysuru Railway Station to address rising passenger demand and projected traffic growth. The project, part of a national mission to double originating passenger traffic by 2030, involves adding platforms, stabling lines, and shunting facilities. The cost has increased from an initial ₹360 crore to approximately ₹493 crore. Work includes demolishing old railway quarters to create space for new infrastructure, with five additional platforms planned for the station, which currently operates at near-saturation levels with six platforms.
