China's high-speed rail network has surpassed 50,000 kilometers with the inauguration of a new line connecting Xi'an and Yan'an. This expansion represents a 32% increase since 2020, making China's network the world's largest. The new 299-kilometer line, with trains reaching 350 km/h, shortens travel time between the cities to 68 minutes. Some residents were relocated for construction, receiving 5,000 yuan per household. China also finances similar projects globally through its Belt and Road Initiative.
