Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw attended a multinational meeting in Washington with finance ministers from G7 nations, Mexico, and the EU to discuss strengthening critical mineral supply chains. The discussions, hosted by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, aimed to reduce dependence on China's dominant position in the sector. Participants explored collaborations in refining, processing, technology sharing, and recycling, with India invited to join initiatives like Pax Silica. The focus was on "prudent derisking" to build resilient and secure supply chains vital for economic and manufacturing resilience.
