Starting January 1, 2026, energy efficiency star-labelling will become mandatory for refrigerators, televisions, LPG stoves, cooling towers, chillers, deep freezers, distribution transformers, and grid-connected solar inverters. This regulation, issued by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, updates previous voluntary labelling and aims to enhance energy efficiency across these appliances. The move follows a public feedback period on draft regulations introduced in July 2025.
