
India's captive and commercial coal mines surpassed 200 million tonnes of production in the 2025-26 fiscal year by March 11, exceeding last year's total output 24 days earlier. Captive and commercial mines contributed 194.17 million tonnes, with other mines adding 6.06 million tonnes. Coal dispatches rose 7.71% year-on-year to 197.09 million tonnes, reflecting increased supply. The Coal Ministry highlighted this as a key milestone and affirmed ongoing support for expanding domestic coal production.
