In 2025, a record 3.3 crore Indians traveled abroad, with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand as the top destinations. This surge is attributed to rising incomes, improved flight connectivity, and comparatively lower costs overseas. Meanwhile, foreign tourist arrivals in India declined, notably due to diplomatic tensions with Bangladesh causing a 73% drop in visitors. Rising domestic hotel prices have also made international travel more appealing to Indian travelers, prompting airlines to expand global routes.
