India's urban transport crisis persists with overcrowded buses and unpredictable taxi services. A new initiative, Bharat Taxi, aims to offer a cooperative model, positioning itself as the 'Amul model for taxis.' Drivers will be shareholders, retaining full earnings and receiving social security benefits, while customers can expect stable pricing. Backed by the Ministry of Cooperation and major institutions, the platform has already registered over 1.1 lakh drivers in Delhi-NCR and 3,000 in Rajkot, with a planned January launch and potential expansion to other cities.
