
Ahsan H. Mansur resigned as governor of Bangladesh Bank shortly after the new Bangladesh Nationalist Party government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, took office following the February 12 election. Mansur cited reports of his impending replacement as his reason for stepping down amid protests by some bank employees. Subsequently, Md Mostaqur Rahman was appointed as the new governor for a four-year term. Rahman is an experienced financial specialist with over 30 years in corporate finance and governance.
