
A Parliamentary panel has urged the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to intensify proactive monitoring of sectors with duopolistic or highly concentrated market structures, citing concerns over disproportionate market power affecting consumer welfare and fair competition. The panel recommended regular market studies, risk assessments, and targeted interventions across both digital and traditional sectors, including airlines. It also called for expedited introduction of the Digital Competition Bill and stronger coordination with sectoral regulators to enhance regulatory compliance.
