India's natural gas prices for CNG and piped cooking gas (PNG) are set to decrease as a new unified tariff for gas pipelines takes effect on January 1, 2026. The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has rationalized the tariff structure, reducing distance-based zones to two and implementing a single, lower rate nationwide. This reform aims to simplify transportation, reduce costs by thousands of crores annually, and make natural gas more competitive and accessible, aligning with the 'One Nation, One Grid, One Tariff' vision. City gas operators like Think Gas have already announced price cuts in anticipation of the new regime.
