The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has introduced the SWAGAT-FI framework to streamline registration and compliance for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) and Foreign Venture Capital Investors (FVCIs). This single-window system allows eligible investors to apply for both FPI and FVCI registrations simultaneously, reduces repeated documentation, and extends renewal and KYC review periods for FVCIs to 10 years. The framework, effective June 1, 2026, benefits entities like sovereign wealth funds, mutual funds, insurance companies, and pension funds meeting specified criteria.
