Police in Thane, Maharashtra, have arrested five individuals in connection with a human trafficking racket attempting to sell a 7-day-old baby for Rs 6 lakh. Acting on a tip, authorities used a decoy buyer to confirm the deal, leading to the apprehension of the suspects near a hotel in Badlapur West. A token payment of Rs 20,000 was made via UPI. Investigations are ongoing to identify the biological mother and explore potential involvement of hospitals or nursing homes in a larger infant trafficking network.
