An under-construction three-storey warehouse roof collapsed on June 24 in Kolkata's Taratala area, trapping an estimated 40 to 60 workers beneath debris. Rescue operations involving Kolkata Police, fire services, NDRF, SDRF, the Army, and disaster management teams are ongoing, with at least 21 people rescued and three to eight fatalities reported. Authorities are using cranes and gas cutters to clear rubble while investigating possible construction lapses, including allegations of substandard materials and illegal building practices.
