Bolivian authorities have arrested Facundo Marset, accused leader of the First Uruguayan Cartel, on organized crime and cocaine trafficking charges. Paraguay's anti-narcotics chief confirmed the arrest, while Bolivia transferred Marset to the U.S. for money laundering charges. Bolivia recently resumed cooperation with the U.S. DEA after 17 years, aiming to strengthen regional efforts against drug trafficking. Marset was previously detained in Dubai in 2021 and linked by Colombian President Gustavo Petro to the 2022 assassination of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, though he has not been charged in that case.
