Bengaluru Woman Alleges Rs 1.53 Crore Fraud by Man Promising Marriage

A 29-year-old Bengaluru software engineer alleges she was defrauded of over Rs 1.53 crore by Vijay Raj Gowda, who promised marriage and claimed to be a wealthy businessman with assets worth Rs 715 crore. Meeting through a matrimonial site in March 2024, Gowda persuaded her and her acquaintances to invest in his purported ventures. The fraud surfaced when she discovered he was already married with a child. Police have registered a case against Gowda, his wife, and father, investigating their involvement.
