KCOCA Invoked Against Two Accused in Karnataka Land Dispute Murder Case

Karnataka Police have invoked the stringent Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act (KCOCA) against two individuals, gangster Kali Yogish and alleged land shark Yogish Acharya, in connection with a land dispute that led to murder and other violent crimes. The case began in December 2022 with an assault, escalating to the murder of Sharath Shetty in March 2023. Yogish Acharya has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while Kali Yogish is absconding and believed to be abroad. A recent threat against a key witness, Chandrashekhar, also led to charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
