Authorities have registered a case against seven individuals, including a former market committee secretary, in connection with an alleged Rs 2.56 crore paddy procurement scam from 2022-23. Investigations revealed that paddy was falsely shown as transported from the Gharaunda grain market to rice mills using fake entries for small vehicles like bikes and cars, which are incapable of carrying such loads. Out-gate passes were allegedly generated through manipulation of records on the e-procurement portal. Further investigation is ongoing.
