The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Aadya Prasad Tiwari, an accused in the 2021 death of Mahant Narendra Giri, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad. The court noted the trial, involving over 150 proposed witnesses, is expected to take considerable time, and Tiwari does not appear to be the principal accused. Tiwari has been in custody since September 2021. The CBI's chargesheet cited mental trauma from associates as a factor in Giri's death.
