A fire broke out late Monday in a two- to three-storey house in Meerut's Lisari Gate area, killing six family members, including five children and a woman. The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in electrical appliances used for garment work on the ground floor, spread rapidly due to stored cloth and narrow lanes that hindered rescue efforts. Seven people were hospitalized; one woman remains in critical condition. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
